Der Geowissenschaftler Alfred Wegener entwickelte 1912 die Theorie der Kontinentalverschiebung: Die Erde verändert sich. Naturkräfte wirken auf sie ein. Kontinente lösen sich voneinander, driften aufeinander zu, bilden riesige Landmassen, werden zu tausend Inseln auseinander gerissen. Diese spannende Thematik ist Schwerpunkt des Internationalen Kunstprojektes „Continental Drift“ . Die Künstler stellen sich der Herausforderung Trennendes und Verbindendes in ihren Arbeiten und Ansichten zu entdecken ohne kulturelle oder persönliche Eigenheiten in Frage zu stellen. Und so werden in diesem Projekt einzelne Positionen zu einem spannenden gemeinsamen Ergebnis zusammengeführt, in dem die höchst individuelle Ausdrucksform jedes einzelnen Künstlers sichtbar wird Malerei, Fotografie, Collage, Objektkunst. Die interkontinentale Zusammenarbeit wird neue Impulse setzen. Dabei wird der Dialog der Arbeiten, der Künstler und der Rezipienten das unverrückbare Herzstück bilden. Man kann sich auf eine grenzüberschreitende Ausstellung gefasst machen. Auf Ernstes und Heiteres, auf Gewaltiges und Zartes, auf Hintergründiges und Wegweisendes. In 1912 Alfred Wegener developed the theory of continental drift. At that time he was ridiculed. The belief that the continents on the world’s surface are unmovable was law set in stone. However, as well as Galileo and Darwin, who have influenced the human self-perception with their theories, Wegener showed a new way of thinking which is a matter of course today. The earth is changing. Continents separate, drift towards each other, form cracked land-masses and are torn apart into thousands of islands.
The terms “separation and union”, “beginning and farewell”, discovery and leaving” give an impression of what the 10 artists of the international artproject “Continental Drift” deal with. Their access to the topic “art” is as colorful as their heritages. Chinese and European artists meet the challenge of discovering the separate and unite aspects of their work and views, without questioning their cultural and personal peculiarities. However, not only individuals arebeing united in this project, but also the artistic forms of expression are just as diverse. They show a wide range of artistic confrontation. The artwork ranges from painting to photography, text and pop-art as well as video- and object-art. The intercontinental cooperation will provide new impulses, whereby the unmovable core will be the dialogue of work, artists and recipients.Visitors may expect a cross- border exhibition. The artworks will be serious and cheerful, enormous and gentle, enigmatic and pioneering. Expect separable and inseparable forces…Yin and Yang.
